Fact!

posted December 31, 2007 in Fact!

Ok maybe I’m going overboard on the blog thing and I’m going to get bored of it in a couple weeks, but I’m doing some really mundane work right now so out of the ashes of my boredom rises a new feature of this blog: Fact!  Facts will enlighten, teach, and make you think.  But they will never go out with your sister.

Fact: most people scream using a combination of their lungs, diaphragm and mouths.  I, however, scream using my arms and fingers - but the volume is still controlled by the opening and closing of my mouth.

Juno I Like This Movie

Mish and I went to see Juno tonight (the movie, not the roman goddess). It was filmed here in Vancouver and features two actors (Jason Bateman and Michael Cera) from the funniest show ever made: Arrested Development.

One priceless nugget of teen-lingo that I hadn’t heard before but will definitely be adding to the roster of phrases I utter when I am surprised is “Honest to blog?”.

That is just golden.

Christmas Roundup

posted December 30, 2007 in Music

After listening to garbage muzak in so many stores for the past couple weeks I’m glad to say I was blessed with some good music on Christmas to partially make up for it.

Got some gifts from Mish and my family, including: Rolling Stone Cover to Cover (every page of every magazine - all 40 years - searchable on DVD… very nice), Turbonegro: The Movie (saving that for a special evening with the old lady), a Billy Childish doc and season 2 of Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels (my guilty but not revealing in any way pleasure). And on a recent trek to Nepal my mother-in-law picked up some Nepali rock for me - a band called “1974 A.D”. Haven’t listened to it yet but I’m assuming it sounds a lot like Bob Seger’s “Kathmandu”.

Also got a couple albums at the local record store yesterday: Gram Parsons and the Flying Burrito Bros live in ‘69 and the new BellRays. Both are superb.
