Leave some for the fish… you dolt

I’m currently typing away on my balcony (yay working at home) which faces onto a laneway.  In the laneway is a man who is trying to remove a bunch of dirt off the lane directly behind his house.  The dirt is there because he’s building a garage and they just dumped a bunch of sand and gravel off.  Some of which ended up on the lane.  It’s kind of messy and I guess it bothers him to have that mess on a laneway that we all use.

For probably the last 45 minutes this moron has had his garden hose on full-blast trying to slowly erode away the dirt that was left on the lane.  He could have easily shoveled and swept it up in about 5 minutes but no, no… it’s much easier to just stand in one spot and hold a hose instead.  I think he’s totally screwed up the hydro-eco-balance in the city because it’s a lot cloudier now than when he started.  There’s practically a major river running down the lane and all this twit has done is spread around the dirt.  It’s a helluva a lot messier than when he started.  Bravo, sir hose-a-lot!

And yes, even as I write this he’s still out there with the hose.  I bet there’s a few ships stuck in English Bay thanks to him.  ”Sacre bleu, Capitaine! Zis does not make sense… we were sitting in 50 feet of wateur only one hour ago.  Mon dieu!”

Indiana Jones

I went to see the midnight showing of Indiana Jones last night.  Not because I’m some kind of Indy nut (which I guess I am now after going to that show) but because I couldn’t go tonight and I wanted to see it on opening day… which I guess qualifies me as a different more general variety of nut.

I’m not much of a movie reviewer so I’ll say that the film was both “good” and “nice”.  I’d be inclined to say it’s niceness was eclipsed only by it’s goodness, but it wouldn’t have been half as good if it wasn’t for the nice touches.

As far as film franchises go I’d say they did a pretty solid job of making a movie a sequel that can stand alongside the first three movies (which were quite good too from what I hear).  I’m kidding. Actually I have seen them but I mistakenly thought they were prequels to the original Stars Wars movies exclusively about Han Solo and his time on earth alone without any of the other characters.

No Lost tonight — gearing up for the big finale this week — so I think I’ll be watching one of the Korean movies Mish got for her birthday from her brother. And hopefully going to see Son of Rambow on Sunday.

Holy Crap…

Oh, man. This week’s Lost was primo.  Just finished watching it and now I can’t wait for parts 2 and 3 of the season finale next week.  It’s going to rot ass waiting 8 months or however long it is for season 5 — especially considering how good it’s been since the writers’ strike.

Some interesting developments tonight: an army of others captures Kate and Sayid (I’m sure they’re executing some ridiculous plan Ben cooked up), Sun sticks it to her asshole Dad by taking controlling interest of his company (not something you would have seen the pre-crash Sun doing), and Locke is about to move the island… whatever the hell that means.

And who piled all that C4 on the freighter?  Son of a bitch there was a lot.  Maybe Keemy put it there so he could dispose of the boat after he’d captured Ben on the island?  I can see him doing that… based on his track record of annihilating every person and thing that doesn’t help him achieve his objective of obtaining Ben.

Next week is the new Indiana Jones AND the season finale of Lost!  It’s like Christmas times a billion!  In May!

Anybody else seen Iron Man yet?  Catch Tom Morello in it?  He’s the first insurgent that Iron Man obliterates in the cave.  I see on his Wikipedia page that Tom also starred in an episode of Star Trek: Voyageur… he really is the ultimate guitarist!
