RIP Bo Diddley

posted June 2, 2008 in Music

Bo Diddley, the guy who laid the tracks for The Who, Hendrix, The Beatles and The Stones, passed away today.  Sad news.

Here’s a little Bo the way he was meant to be heard – on a 45… (um, videotaped and posted to YouTube… I’m afraid it’s the best this blog can do).

The Pink Fairies – Walk Don’t Run

posted June 2, 2008 in Jukebox

I’m still digesting the Lost finale so I’ll post on that later but in the meantime, here’s some musical goodies.

I picked up a few Pink Fairies albums and I’ve been listening to them pretty much all day.  Here’s their rendition of The Ventures’ classic surf-rock tune “Walk Don’t Run”, taken from their second album “What a Bunch of Sweeties“.

This baby clocks in at a fat 9 and a half minutes with a full-on jam breakdown in the middle and some of their own lyrics added too.  Pretty wild guys, those Fairies.
