The art of Mike Mitchell

posted July 25, 2008 in Art

I’m really digging Mike Mitchell’s illustrations. This is what I wish my art looked like if I a) spent more time painting and b) was more talented.

In other news… Mish and I will be on a plane in about 7 hours heading to Peru (via a SF-LA-Lima milk run) which means I’m getting up in about 4 hours which means I should probably head to bed.

I’ll be bringing my phone and hopefully taking some photos and blogging at least once or twice with my fancy Wordpress app. I built a solar USB charger for my iPod and iPhone so I could keep them juiced up enough in the jungle to watch episodes of Six Feet Under but it doesn’t quite work. Correction — it kind of works.  It seems to charge the iPod okay, but not the iPhone… or any other USB device for that matter. I believe it’s a problem with the flux capacitor.

Reese Peanut Butter Cups

posted July 24, 2008 in Thoughts

I was just making a PB&J sandwich and my mind started wandering… remember those old Reese Peanut Butter cup commercials from Saturday mornings in the 80s?

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

What strikes me now, looking back, is why a girl would bring a jar of peanut butter to the movies to eat as a snack.  Maybe people did this in the 80s and then stopped by the time I started going to movies.

Check it — Jeff Bridges has a ridiculously cool site.  Check out his photo book on the making of Iron Man.
